I have to start off by saying that although we love the atmosphere of the festive season, we don’t do Christmas… or Easter. In our opinion (it may be different than yours, I realize that and respect your opinion) it is man-made celebrations to make money and keep our eyes off the bigger picture. The Tooth Fairy and Halloween is also not welcome in our house, together with Valentine’s day, Mother’s day and Father’s day.
That said, I do believe that Jesus Christ was born from the Virgin Mary (without a Christmas tree and Santa Clause) and that He died on the cross for our sins and sickness (again… no Easter bunny or chocolate eggs were present when He hung on the cross or rose from the dead).
We as women have a tendency to sometimes forget our value. The Word says a virtuous woman’s worth is more than rubies (Prov 31:10), yet so many women struggle to love and accept themselves. They compare themselves to other people, their houses and birthday parties to the ones they see on Pinterest. I want to remind all women of their worth and value by sharing this great love story:
Once upon a time there was a God, an almighty God. He decided to create people, so He made us with love. He made us fearfully and wonderfully (Ps 139:14) and gave us free choice.
His heart was to love us and have a relationship, to be a Father to us, but we believed the lies of the enemy and disobeyed God. For centuries we would sin against God, only to run back when we were in trouble and needed saving. Time after time He would save us and love us (Zeph 3:17).
God loved us through all the sin. He had a final plan to defeat the enemy who lied to His children, so He sent His Son to the earth to pay the ultimate price. Jesus paid for all our iniquities and sin in order that we can have everlasting life (John 3:16).
The cross was not the end, because Jesus did not only die on the cross, but He also rose from the death. In that lies the victory over the enemy. Those who believe in Him can do anything through Jesus who gives us strength (Phil 4:13). Jesus is alive! He sent his Spirit to live in us, to teach us and lead us. He lives in us and is bigger than the defeated enemy in the world (1 John 4:4).
God did all of this because He loves the people He created. He wants us to have peace, to have a future (Jer 29:11). He wants us to know that we are loved for He gives us our worth.
It is easy to forget this message between Easter bunnies and egg-hunts… the message of hope and the greatest love.
