Little captain and his number oneUp to now it was easy to talk about my son in blog posts. First he was my baby and then my son, because he was only one. Now that his little brother is born I have to think of something else to call them. I don’t want to call them by their real names for privacy reasons.

If one of them was a girl I could make their father proud and call them Luke and Leia.

My husband is a Sci-fi fan. When we got married I had to watch his movie collection with him to be more cultivated and understand what he is saying half of the time.

We started with Back to the future. It is great family movies, but I never watched it due to it being Sci-fi (actually the least Sci-fi of everything I had to watch). The Terminator movies available up to then followed (more time travel, yay…). The next set of movies was Star Wars. I watched all six movies (in the correct sequence), but only recently got of the plot from them all when hubby gave me a rundown on what had happened (just to refresh my memory) before we watched the new movie. We ended up with Star Trek series, first Enterprise, then The Original Series, The Next Generation, Voyager and all the movies. I actually enjoyed Star Trek (don’t tell my husband). Another series that I really liked was Farscape.live long and prosper

Meet Little Captain and his Number One

Back to my point… after giving it a lot of thought I decided I will call my sons Little Captain and his Number One in my blog posts, because they are our next generation.

Little Captain is 2 and a half years old. He is busy and enjoys exploring things. He is at the age that he tells me “no” when he doesn’t want to do things when I want them done (luckily not always) and starts to push his boundaries. He is stubborn, has his own way of seeing things, helpful, caring, and always laughing. He also has a sensitive heart and doesn’t like it if someone is in pain. And he loves his little brother.

Number One is 2 and a half months old. At this stage he is just smiling, eating, playing, sleeping and pooping… with a little crying in between. I mean, he just learned how to keep his own head up… I know he is going to learn so much from his big brother and have a lot of fun together.

I really want to share my family with all of you. They are my heartbeat. With today’s technology I am struggling with the boundaries between privacy and sharing everything on social media. I wish my sons could come back from the future and tell me what they want to be shared.

What are your thoughts regarding privacy and social media?

So this is my sons. You will read in further posts of the adventures of my Little Captain and his Number One.

  1. I love this post! It’s adorable how you integrate your hubby’s love for Scifi with your children’s pseudonyms. I suppose it is a difficult balancing act to share info on your family while protecting the interests of your children. I’m sure your Next Generation is safe though and will certainly live long and prosper. Little Captain and No. 1 are precious. Enjoy every moment with them.

  2. Those are cool names! I love reading your blog, I can’t wait to read more about the little ones. Keep up the good work 🙂

  3. I’m just starting to kick into gear blogging myself and yesterday had a moment of panic thinking “what did I just sign myself up for?” privacy wise. I think you reached a good balance of sharing and protecting your children’s identities, and it doesn’t hurt that you picked adorable nicknames for them!

  4. This post is so adorable… I love the way you deliver your feelings(message) to readers. There is alot more to learn. Thank you. It boosts my mind to write more.
