DAY 2 – Monday
Getting a Museum card
My husband left early for work, so that was my first day alone on the metro. Finding the station without any problem I took my seat and watched the other people. Most of them sat with a blank face, but there was a young couple talking excitedly.
On my way to Musèe d’Orsay it started to rain and just as I arrived I saw that it was closed.
Resting at the Jardin de Tuileries
Exploring the Louvre
I saw the Mona Lisa but was not allowed to take photos. They had some fridge magnets of the painting, but when I went back to buy one I couldn’t find it again (again my sense of direction… or lack thereof).
After relaxing in the gardens (by that moment I was over my initial shock and disappointment of the day before), I went to a Supermaket close to the hotel. There were tills where you scan your own products and put your money into a machine. I didn’t understand everything (as I didn’t see the English-version and tried it in French). Again I needed someone to rescue me from a communication-barrier and luckily the man behind me saw my struggle and helped me.
Boat trip on the Seine
Then we went on a boat from the Eiffel tower, east to the islands and back. The boat-tour was very informative and beautiful. We were told if you spend one minute at every painting in the Louvre you will be there for four months! I can believe that and can’t wait to go back there… maybe this time with a map.
Did you experience the Eiffel Tower at night? What other magical moments did you have in Paris?
Please join me again next week for day 3, my first day at the museums.
